On the evening of Thursday, January 23, the Library, in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Kalambaka “The Meteora” and the publishing house 24 Grammata, organized the presentation of Dimitris Vlachopanos’ book From Sun and Ashes.
The event was introduced and coordinated by educator Kiki Koutsogianni, who engaged in a discussion with the author about the themes of the book. Among these themes was the recounting of the atrocities of World War II in Greece, with a focus on the massacres in Epirus and the Holocaust of Kommeno. Additionally, the presentation featured a short video about the “Bloody Wedding” of Alexandra (August 16, 1943), which drew significant interest.
We thank everyone who attended and look forward to seeing you at the next book presentation, Families of Kalambaka, Donta and Zografou: Politicians and Painters in Thessaly, 18th–19th Century, by author Zina Zografou-Karachristou, on January 30, 2025, at 6 p.m.
