“Gone with the Wind!” in Kastania

Today, we had the pleasure of meeting our little friends from the village of Kastania for the implementation of the Summer Campaign of Reading and Creativity workshop titled ‘Gone with the Wind!’. The purpose of the workshop was for the children to learn about the functions and types of wind and to ponder on all the things we cannot see, but can feel.

Initially, through various activities, the children learned that air creates movement, sound, and becomes ‘visible’ when trapped in a balloon! Next, they played a knowledge game with cards, learning about the Beaufort scale and its inventor Francis Beaufort, the different names of the wind such as Sirocco and Zephyr, while also expressing thoughts on how and where we use wind, like in windmills, airplanes, and wind turbines. Finally, using simple materials, our little friends created and decorated a wind chime to generate movement and music using the power of the wind!

We thank the Kastania Cultural Association, for the collaboration.
