Educational Workshop with the 3rd Primary School and the Special School of Kalambaka

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Library hosted students from the 3rd Primary School and the Special School of Kalambaka in an educational workshop based on the Tactile Museum’s educational kit. This kit serves as a means of experiential engagement for students and educators with the challenges of blindness.

The participants began with an introductory briefing on the difficulties faced by individuals with vision loss, as well as the strategies they develop to overcome them.

Through hands-on activities, the children had the opportunity to better understand the world of visual impairment. In one activity, with their eyes covered, they had to navigate to a predetermined point either with the help of a guide or by using a special white cane. They also became acquainted with Braille, the reading and writing system used by individuals with visual impairments.
