Visit of a team from the program “The Examined Life: Greek studies in the Schools”

On Monday, April 15th, we had the pleasure of welcoming to the Library a group of educators, librarians, and writers from the United States as part of the “The Examined Life” program. Started in 1999, “The Examined Life” is a professional development program for teachers designed to enhance Greek Studies in schools in the Boston area. The 26.2 Foundation (https://www.26-2.org/) closely collaborates with the program organizers to support educators in the MetroWest region of Massachusetts, particularly in the cities of Ashland and Hopkinton.

The program aims to provide scholarships, develop curriculum materials, and educate the community about the history, culture, and achievements of ancient and modern Greece. “The Examined Life” supports 20 teachers selected each year, who regularly meet with external scholars in a series of seminars, workshops, and ongoing discussions on methods of integrating knowledge and teaching. It also includes educational trips to Greece.

Participants of the program were guided through all the spaces of the Library and were informed about educational programs, outreach activities, and services to the public. They were impressed by the modern architecture and technological infrastructure of the Library.
