A unique cultural evening at the presentation of the New Book ” Drunkard – On the Soils of Crete” by Giannis Kalpouzos

A truly special evening was experienced by all who attended the event on Wednesday, May 7th at the Library, where the new book “ Drunkard – On the Soils of Crete” by acclaimed author Yiannis Kalpouzos was presented.

The event was organized in collaboration with Papantos bookstore and the publishing house Hartini Poli, and was artistically enriched by the conductor, music educator, and music therapist Ms. Konstantia Laskou, along with members of the Kalabaka Cultural Association choir “The Meteora”. They offered the audience a series of melodious interludes. Their performance was further enhanced by the participation of Mr. Kostas Dritselis, classical guitar professor at the Municipality of Meteora’s Music School, who accompanied the choir and added a distinctive musical character to the evening.

A highlight of the event was the appearance of the dance group from the Association of Cretans of Trikala Prefecture “Psiloritis”, who captivated the audience with traditional Cretan dances under the direction of dance instructor Mr. Nikos Rountos and with the presence of the Association’s President, Ms. Georgia Kallitsounaki.

A particularly touching moment was the reading of selected excerpts from the book by Mr. Nikolaos Tsioukas, Deputy Mayor of Culture for the Municipality of Meteora, and Ms. Kiki Koutsogianni, Primary Education Teacher. Through their readings, they conveyed the spirit and essence of the book with great sensitivity.

The author himself spoke about the themes and deeper messages of his work, and later engaged directly with the audience by signing copies of his book.

The evening concluded with heartfelt thanks to all participants and, of course, to the public, whose strong presence reaffirmed once again that the love for literature and culture remains alive and vibrant.
