The film “Fonissa” (The Murderess) moved and thrilled the audience at the Library

On Saturday, October 5th, a double screening of the film “Fonissa” (The Murderess) took place, with the presence of visual artist-scenographer, and director Eva Nathena. The film, based on Papadiamantis’ masterpiece, moved the audience and sparked excitement for the powerful performance of lead actress Karyofyllia Karabeti.

After the first screening, Ms. Nathena gave a speech, starting with a quote from Odysseas Elytis: “One day the past will surprise us with the force of its relevance. It will not have changed, but our minds will have.” Ms. Nathena, among other things, discussed female subjugation and femicide, which have resurfaced in the darkest ways, spoke about the profound work of Alexandros Papadiamantis and the greatness of this author, as well as the still undermined position of women today.

We thank Ms. Nathena for honoring us with her presence.
