The Library is pleased to welcome Ms. Tenia Makri on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. for the presentation of her book “The Marks Remain…”
The event will be introduced by the journalist Sotiris Polyzos.
Biographical Information:
Tenia Makri was born in Volos. She lives in Athens and operates an office where she offers counseling to families on relationship issues between spouses, with children, and with each member individually. She has studied Social Work and Applied Psychology in Greece and the United States, and holds an M.Sc. in Vocational Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities. She is a pioneer in Greece and the European Community in the field of vocational rehabilitation in the labor market for people with disabilities. She has been particularly involved in the use of aids against architectural barriers for the more effective coping of daily life by people with disabilities and has worked on this subject both in Greece and in the European Union.
Among other things, she was the founder of the vocational rehabilitation department at the Hatzikaterio Foundation and a founding member of the Developmental Pediatrics Clinic of the A’ Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens at the “Agia Sophia” Children’s Hospital. She founded the Parents’ School at the Leonteio Lyceum of Patision and established the vocational orientation for the high school students at the same school. This pioneering effort was followed by many schools in the country.
