Under the auspices of the Committee "Greece 2021" and Sponsor of Activity the company Eren Hellas, the Library of Kalambaka in collaboration with the Wood Carving School of Kalambaka of ELGO DIMITRA, organize an educational action entitled "Wood Carved Memories of 1821". Objects are to highlight the intangible cultural heritage of the woodcarving process, as well as to ensure the viability of woodcarving through the use of 3D imaging technologies.
The digital cultural stock will be accessible internationally, will be linked to digital cultural portals and will be available to different categories of users. More specifically, portraits of important heroes of the Greek Revolution, as well as local heroes and / or objects related to the Revolution (e.g., musket, scythe, etc.) will be created by the students of the school under the guidance of their teachers. With the help of a portable 3D scanner, donated by Action Sponsor Eren Hellas, the various stages of work will be digitized and the motifs of the woodcarving art will be recorded via video to create the final result, as well as the experiences of the students participating in the action. All these wood-carved objects will be exhibited in the Library in physical and digital form and can be reproduced using 3D printers. At the same time, the Library will act as a gateway for the connection of digital exhibits with international repositories of cultural content.
With appreciation, the Library of Kalambaka expresses its gratitude to the Action Sponsor Eren Hellas for the kind sponsorship and support, as well as the Wood Carving School of Kalampaka for the cooperation.
