As March 25th approaches, a day of celebration of the anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution, which this year coincides with the celebration of its 200th anniversary, the number of events taking place in this context is increasing.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The Library participates in the celebration with several activities, one of which is the collaboration with the 1st Primary School of Kalambaka that responded to our call. Today, the students of the 6th grade went online to the historical home of Lazaros Kountouriotis, Greek Senator and agent of the Revolution of 1821. The students learned about the personality of this important political figure in an attempt to illuminate other important figures who may not have fought but contributed in other ways to the achievement of National Independence.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The students were guided to the family mansion where important consultations were held on issues of the Revolution of 1821 and hosted important personalities of the time, Greeks and foreigners. The students noticed several personal items of the Prelate Lazaros Kountouriotis, such as the wooden armchair he used in the Monastery of Hydra, when he presided over the meetings of the prelates of the island who made critical decisions about the course of the Greek revolution, the honorary sword of the Savior with the Star of the Grand Cross awarded to him by King Otto for his contribution to the Struggle for Independence.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;The students watched the tour with interest and stated that they will definitely visit Hydra when the conditions allow for a live tour of the museum.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;The virtual tour is available as an application from the National History Museum.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;We thank once again the 1st Primary School of Kalambaka for the cooperation.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, March 23, a digital tour took place at the historic home of Lazaros Koundouriotis, based in Hydra.
