On Thursday, May 16, we had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Tenia Makri at the Library for the presentation of her new book titled “The Scars Remain…”. The event was introduced by the well-known journalist and director of the TRT channel, Mr. Sotiris Polizos.
Ms. Makri began her speech by exploring all dimensions of emotional abuse: what it means, why it happens, and how it manifests. Drawing from her extensive experience as a family and couples counselor, having encountered many controlling men over the years, she aimed to share with the audience the insights she has gained. She discussed what lies behind certain words, when feelings of anger are ready to be expressed violently, and when a man genuinely tries to change. She emphasized that the purpose of writing her book is to help women recognize when their partners are belittling or controlling them and to learn to avoid violent and manipulative individuals.
At the end of the presentation, a discussion followed with the audience about the emotions experienced by victims and ways they can free themselves from a toxic relationship.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Makri for accepting our invitation, to Kaktos Publications, and to Tsiopelakos Bookstore for their collaboration.
