The presentation of Volume I of Antonis V. Papamichail’s book-album, titled “MOTHER EARTH – MOTHER KARAGKOUNA: The Harvest,” was held with great success on Sunday, June 7th, at the Library, in collaboration with the Folklore Association of Trikala “Oi Theristades” (The Harvesters).
The work constitutes a significant cultural and folkloric record, highlighting the rich tradition of the Thessalian plain, the timeless toil of the harvest, and the iconic figure of the Karagkouna mother. Through its pages, it offers a moving journey back to the roots of local tradition, making a substantial contribution to the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage.
The event opened with introductory remarks by the Library Director, Ms. Katsiamani, followed by a brief welcome address from the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Administrative Services, Ms. Lila Banteka-Nani.
Speakers on the book and the significance of its publication included Vicky Michou, Attorney; Antonis V. Papamichail, the author of the album; and Georgia Psyrra, Culturologist specializing in Cultural Heritage Management.
The speakers highlighted the value of the publication as a precious document of folk tradition and historical memory, emphasizing the importance of preserving and passing down cultural elements to younger generations.
