‘Observing the Moon’ astronomy night was a great success

Those who attended the “Observing the Moon” event had the chance to experience a truly special evening dedicated to Earth’s natural satellite.

The event beautifully combined scientific knowledge with a hands-on, experiential approach. The keynote speaker of the evening was geologist Dr. Aristeidis Sfeikos, who revealed the “secrets” of the Moon to the audience. Through a deeply engaging presentation, attendees discovered:

  • How the Moon was formed and its precise relationship with our planet.
  • What its morphology might have in common with… a peach or a cherry!
  • Many more fascinating “earthly, lunar, and cosmic” phenomena that continue to captivate scientists.

The highlight of the evening was the live observation of the lunar landscape. Astronomy enthusiasts of all ages gathered around, and by using the Library’s telescope, they had the opportunity to clearly see the craters and details of the Moon’s surface, enjoying a unique spectacle in the night sky.

The Kalambaka Library would like to warmly thank Dr. Aristeidis Sfeikos for his exceptional presentation.
