The speech entitled “Navigating Safely: AI Scams and Protection on Social Networks” has been successfully completed

Mr. Marios Papaefstathiou’s speech, titled “Navigating Safely: AI Scams and Protection on Social Media,” took place at the Library on Thursday, April 30.

The event focused on the modern challenges arising from the use of Artificial Intelligence for malicious purposes. Through specific examples of digital scams, the ways in which these can affect citizens’ daily lives were presented, highlighting the need for vigilance and awareness.

Particular emphasis was placed on fostering digital literacy, recognizing suspicious practices, and adopting essential protective measures when using social media and new technologies.

The event concluded with an open dialogue with the audience, where real-life incidents were used to underscore the importance of reliable information and responsible digital behavior in a constantly evolving technological environment.

This initiative is part of the “Year of Artificial Intelligence – 2026” program, implemented by the Library in collaboration with the Association of Greek Librarians and Information Scientists.
