On Thursday, March 14th, we had the pleasure and honor of hosting the historian and writer Mr. Irkos Apostolidis, who gave a speech on “Alexander the Great: the face on the scales of history”. Mr. Apostolidis referred to sources of historians who wrote exclusively about the Macedonian general; texts by Arrian, Callisthenes, Olynthios, Plutarch, Diodorus, etc., which formed the basis of the well-known biographies of the most famous figure in world history. He also analyzed the political and military intelligence of Alexander the Great, which led him to create one of the greatest empires in history, his turbulent life and his virtues, which led to the overwhelming domination of Hellenistic civilization to the “ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea”.
After the speech, Mr. Apostolidis discussed with the audience and answered questions.
We would like to thank Mr. Irkos Apostolidis for accepting our invitation and honoring us with his presence.
