Continuing its activities as part of the Summer Campaign, the Kalambaka Library has launched “Imagine … What We Can Achieve Using Mathematics.”
Mathematics is part of our daily lives, kids have learned about probability theory through the problem of Monty Hall, one of the biggest paradoxes in probability science.
The participants then came to know the utility of statistics in the world where they were asked to improve the design of a helicopter by investigating the influence of four factors on flight time, through an experiment.
The experiment included paper helicopters designed based on four specific factors to find the helicopter with maximum flight time. In this way the children advised the helicopter engineers on the adjustments of the factors to increase the flight time.
We would like to thank Mr. Vassilios Pappas, Principal at the 1st Kalambaka Junior High School, for his valuable contribution to the activity.
