The members of the Adult Book Club had a new, special reading experience, as the topic of their meeting on Thursday, November 17, was the author Zulfi Livaneli. The suggestive and penetrating writing of the multi-talented Livaneli enthralled the members, as he scorches everything that defines power, prejudice, the position of women in Turkey, life-styles and religion that determine human destinies. The members expressed their views on the author’s books and agreed that they are a hymn to man, since the author empathizes with the pain experienced by his protagonists and talks about the future of coexistence that may be possible when people begin to they think of their fellow man beyond any distinctions.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, December 8, on the subject of the beloved writer Giota Gouveli.
