Music teacher and author Efi Bahchevana visited the Library on Thursday, June 13th to introduce the participants to the magic world ofthe Boomwhackers musical tubes.
The workshop was designed for educators, parents and children.
The boomwhackers (BW) were invented by American Craig Ramsell in 1995 and have joined music education world-wide in recent years with great success by changing the data in learning music. The boomwhackers are plastic, tubular tubes in different sizes and colors which, when hit on a fixed point (e.g. palm, hands, thighs, knees, floor, table, chair etc.) produce from a different musical sound. Each sound corresponds to a particular note of the diakonic and color scale. Depending on the size of each tube, the corresponding note is also produced.
The children learned by playing and working in groups rather than individually. They understood musical concepts in a simple and entertaining way. Children coordinated with each other, collaborated, and made decisions.
