On the morning of Friday, October 20, we welcomed to the Library the students of the 6th Grade of the 1st Primary School for the implementation of an educational activity with the book kit “Asia Minor Disaster, 1922: Knowing the history through literature, art, play”, of the Ekaterini Laskaridis Foundation.
The young students read excerpts from children’s books referring to pre-refugee Hellenism, learned about the destruction of Smyrna and the plundering of the Turks and the consequences of the war conflicts. They played a board game, specially designed for the Asia Minor Disaster, and then with the activity ‘Zine from a magazine’, they made their own magazine to tell the hardships of the Greek people after the expulsion from Asia Minor and until their relocation to various cities and islands of Greece, due to the agreement on the exchange of populations signed in Lausanne on July 24, 1923.
