Student Visit in the Framework of the Erasmus+ Programme

On Tuesday afternoon, students of the 2nd Gymnasium of Kalambaka visited the Library as well as students from various countries such as Lithuania, Germany and Portugal accompanied by the responsible teachers, who participate in the Erasmus+ program on the subject of Working for Europe“. The students hold their fourth meeting in Kalambaka where they deal with the issue of the old professions, how they have evolved, replaced or even been abolished.
The students were given a tour of the Library‘s infrastructure and were informed about its services. Afterwards, a teleconference was held with the Vice President of the Library of Kalambaka, Mr. Apostolos Iliopoulos, who presented some professions that have been lost over time, traveling the students to times when company executives or university degree holders were fewer than today and many of the services with excess demand, were homeless, offered in the countryside, in the yard or even in the squares of the neighborhoods. Professions such as organizer, milkman, glazer, ice cream seller, ice cream maker and many others that today are completely absent or maintained with the minimum possible number of their representatives were communicated to the students.
At the end, there was an interesting discussion following the students‘ questions and reflections on the rapid evolution of technology and its impact on various professions.
