The Library of Kalambaka invites you to a book presentation with the author Anna Galanou, on the occasion of her new book “Lives Against” on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., upon the initiative of the Parents’ and Guardians’ Association of the Kalambaka High School.
Speakers for the book include:
The book deals with real stories of abuse of female violence victims or narratives of relatives of victims who are no longer alive. Domestic violence is one of the most widespread forms of deviant violence worldwide, but it is not the only form we encounter and are concerned about. According to the Council of Europe, one in four European women experiences or will experience domestic violence at some point in her life, while 6% to 10% of women experience domestic violence each year. It can happen to anyone, in marriage, relationships, cohabitation, by current, former, or past spouses/partners.
The message the book aims to convey is “speak up”, speak before it’s too late. The discussion following the presentation aims to raise awareness on the issue of domestic violence.
