“Our Little Library”: Visit of the 3rd Grade of the 1st Primary School of Kalambaka

We are delighted to inform you that the 3rd grade of the 1st Primary School of Kalambaka will be visiting our library to participate in the educational program “Our Little Library.”

This program, which began sixteen years ago in Slovenia, aims to promote a love for reading among preschool and early primary school children. Today, it is one of the most successful initiatives in children’s literature, having been recognized by the European Commission and the IBBY Slovenia.

During the visit, students will have the opportunity to explore six unique books, dive into their stories and illustrations, play, create, and share their experiences through interactive activities. Through this hands-on approach, reading transforms into an enjoyable journey of knowledge and imagination!

The “Our Little Library” program started sixteen years ago in Slovenia with just 2,500 students. Its goal was to promote reading among kindergarten and primary school students in the Balkan country, which in recent years has been dynamically advancing in the field of children’s literature.

Greece is one of six countries participating in the program for the 2024-2025 school year, specifically in the section dedicated to books for preschool and early primary school children.

The six books, each distinct from the others, become a source of play, study, creativity, and sharing—through words, images, their creators, and their countries of origin.
