About F.I.A.L.E.T.

The Philological, Historical, Archaeological, and Folklore Society of Thessaly (F.I.A.L.E.T.) was founded in 2008 to promote and cultivate the humanities (philology, history, archaeology, and folklore) within the region of Thessaly. Its members and Board of Directors represent all four Regional Units of Thessaly.

The Society contributes to the cultural and intellectual advancement of Thessalian citizens through the organization of discussions, lectures, scientific conferences, and various educational events.

Key Publications:

  • “THESSALIKA SYMMEIKTA”: The Society’s primary project is the publication of this annual scientific journal. Featuring a distinguished scientific committee, it provides a high-impact platform for peer-reviewed studies concerning Thessaly.

  • Legacy: Recognizing the need for a credible scientific forum in the region, the Society previously published the journal “Thessalika Meletimata”, which completed its cycle in 2022 with 12 volumes. The new journal continues this legacy, hosting research from both Greek and international scholars.

  • “TEXTS AND STUDIES” Series: A dedicated series for standalone books regarding Thessalian history and broader topics of interest.

F.I.A.L.E.T. collaborates with local authorities, educational institutions, and cultural associations to disseminate local history and tradition. We believe that engaging citizens with their history and folklore substantially strengthens and upgrades our local cultural identity.
