Description

LEGO SPIKE Prime is a versatile, educational robotics kit developed by LEGO Education, designed to engage students in learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It’s part of the LEGO Education SPIKE portfolio, specifically aimed at middle school students (ages 10-14), but it can also be used by older students. SPIKE Prime combines LEGO building elements with an intuitive drag-and-drop coding environment based on Scratch, offering hands-on opportunities to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

Key Features of LEGO SPIKE Prime:

  • Programmable Hub: The central element of SPIKE Prime is the “Intelligent Hub,” a compact, rechargeable device with a built-in screen, a six-axis gyroscope, and multiple ports for connecting motors and sensors.
  • Motors and Sensors: It comes with a variety of sensors (such as color, distance, and force sensors) and motors that allow students to build robots and other automated systems.
  • Scratch-Based Coding: The drag-and-drop coding interface is based on Scratch, making it user-friendly for beginners. It also supports Python for more advanced users.
  • LEGO Technic Components: SPIKE Prime integrates with LEGO Technic elements, allowing for more complex and durable creations.
  • Hands-On STEM Learning: Students can build and code their own robots and systems, encouraging experimentation, problem-solving, and iterative design.
