Artificial Intelligence and Medicine: Guest Speaker Theodoros Rokkas at the Library

Library invites you to the event dedicated to the “Year of Artificial Intelligence”, which will feature the presentation of Theodoros Rokkas’ new book entitled “Medicine in the Era of Algorithms: Medicine Between Man and Artificial Intelligence”.

Theodoros Rokkas serves as Director of the Gastroenterology Clinic at “Henry Dunant” Hospital Center, maintaining a consistently active relationship with patients and the complex reality of everyday clinical decision-making. He studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Military Medical Academy, and completed his specialization in Gastroenterology at Guy’s Hospital in London.

He holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Medical School of the University of Athens and a PhD from the Medical School of Guy’s, St. Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals of the University of London. He has served as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the School of Medicine, University of Thessaly.

His scientific work includes more than 200 publications in prestigious international journals, with thousands of citations. He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (EBGH), and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG).

He has served as President of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology, the European Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group (EHMSG), as well as a founding member and President of the Hellenic Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group.

He has delivered more than 250 invited lectures at international and Greek conferences and has organized numerous scientific meetings.

For his research work, he has been honored with international awards, while the Hellenic Republic has awarded him the Commander of the Order of the Phoenix and the Gold Cross of the Order of Honour.

The event, held under the auspices of the Municipality of Meteora, will open with a welcome address by the Mayor of Meteora, Mr. Lefteris Avramopoulos.
