An iconic writer, the first African-American to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature is the topic of the next Adults’ Reading Club meeting. Toni Morrison’s unique, lyrical writing style has had a great influence on the world of American and world literature. Her pen shed light on the dark pages of African-American American history, influencing and shaping public opinion on social issues, racism, and censorship. In 1977 she won the National Books Critics Circle Award for her novel The Song of Solomon, and in 1988 he won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel Favorite. The highest honor came in 1993 with the award of the Nobel Prize in Literature. A prolific writer until the end of her life in 2019, with more than 33 awards, Toni Morrison was loved by audiences and critics.
