On Monday April 23, the Eugenides Foundation will hold an event titled “Space Exploration” to commemorate the establishment of Athens as a National Book Capital. Specifically, at 6:30 p.m., the Kalambaka Library will hold a livestream of the speech NASA’s former Astronaut Marsha Ivins will deliver. Ms. Ivins will discuss the history of manned space flights, the first space mission and the collaboration with the National Space Station. Also, she will share the unique experience of what it’s like to leave planet Earth in order to inhabit a gravity-free environment. Lastly, she will describe what is required of one in order to become an astronaut, and inspire young attendants to follow their dreams of “taking over” the universe!
