On Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. we will have the pleasure and honor to host via Zoom, Dr. Athina Linou, Professor of Epidemiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and President of the Institute of Preventive, Environmental and Occupational Medicine, Prolepsis. The theme of the event is the burning issue of vaccination, which affects all age groups. Benefits, hazards, immunity, and vaccination policies are just a few of the topics that will be discussed.

Professor Athina Linou studied medicine at the University of Athens (MD degree) and Public Health at Harvard School (MPH). She also holds a PhD and a Professorial degree from the University of Athens School of Medicine in the field of Epidemiology. Over the years, Dr. Linou has held various long-term academic positions and has taught courses on Epidemiology, Preventive Medicine, and Occupational Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, and Case Western Reserve University. Since 2004, she has been teaching at the University of Athens School of Medicine. She served as vice president of the Greek National Organization for Medicines. In 1990 she founded the Prolepsis Institute active in the field of medical research, health promotion, and public health. Dr. Linou conducts research mainly in the field of epidemiology and chronic and occupational disease prevention. She has also published international and Greek books related to Public Health and participated in numerous conferences. She is a member of several scientific associations and participates in many international networks for public health. She served as a Director at the School of Medicine, at the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Medical Statistics from 2014 to 2017.

Dr. Anastasia Pantazopoulou-Foteinea will make an introduction related to the disease, its incidence, and the overall number of patients. She is a Public Health Doctor and specializes in Occupational Medicine, graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School in 1987, holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the National School of Public Health (1988) and a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School (1990). She has been a member of the Ministry of Environment, Urban Planning, and Public Works since 1977, she has served at the Ministry of Health since 2003, and as Head of the General Directorate of Public Health and Quality of Life for several years until her retirement. Due to her position, she has represented Greece both in the World Health Organization and in the European Union on issues related either to environmental protection or public health issues. She has published work in Greek and international scientific journals. She has participated in both Greek and international scientific conferences. Since 2012, after her retirement, she has been working with the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Environmental and Occupational Medicine, Prolepsis.
