The Library in collaboration with Dioptra Publications invites you to get to know the author Vaggelis Yianniais up close, on the occasion of the release of his new book, 173 Alexandra Avenue on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m.
The book in a nutshell:
A drug addict is found crucified in a forest. An income earner is violently murdered in his apartment. Unknown people shoot a Dutchman in a neighborhood of Athens. A little girl disappears from his home. A fire on a roof reveals a corpse tied to the bed. Five crimes and five police officers with one and only goal: To solve them.
Vangelis Giannisis becomes the first Greek writer to work closely with officers from the Crimes Against Life and Personal Freedom Department to present five true stories from his Homicide archives. Hate crimes come to life in the eyes of the reader, on a journey to the sanctuaries of five cases that shocked the country.
A few words about the author:
Vaggelis Giannisis became known in 2014 with his first novel, To Misos [Hate], starring the inspector Anders Economides. This was followed by five other books: O Choros ton Nekron [The Deads’ Dance], To Kastro [The Castle], I Skia [The Shadow], I Gineka tou Isntal [The Woman of Istal], Amarok [Amarok], all four starring the Greek-Swedish inspector.
