On Saturday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m., we will have the honor to welcome Dr. Sotiri Serbo, Associate Professor of International Politics at the Democritus University of Thrace. Dr. Serbos will deliver a speech on the topic: “From Kiev to Jerusalem: the international position of Greece in a world in transition”.

Dr. Sotirios Serbos serves as an Associate Professor of International Politics at the Democritus University of Thrace. He was born in Thessaloniki in 1976. A distinguished scholar of the Anatolia College, he studied Political Science with an emphasis on International Relations at the University of Macedonia (BA) and Political Science (MSc) at the London School of Economics. A distinguished scholar of the State Scholarship Foundation, he prepared his doctoral thesis at the Greek Academy of Sciences, with a research field of EU-Turkey relations. He has worked as a diplomatic advisor to the President of the Greek political party PASOK-KINAL, as a policy planning scientific director  at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, a special advisor at the Finance, Foreign Affairs, National Defense, and Macedonia-Thrace Ministries.

In addition, he has taught Public Administration and Politics at the Hellenic Open University and International Relations at the American College of Thessaloniki. He is active in the field of international consulting services through the Gerson Lehrman Group. In 2012, he was selected as a “SUSI scholar” at the Institute for American Politics and Political Thought (USA). In the period 2014-2015, he worked as a Fulbright Foundation academic scholar in the field of US-EU relations and the crises in the Eurozone and Ukraine (Johns Hopkins SAIS). He has collaborated with the German political institutions Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert. His publications focus on the field of foreign policy analysis, with an emphasis on Turkey, USA, EU. He intervenes in the public debate through print and electronic media. He is married and the father of a boy.​
