The Library is again working with the National Library of Greece, which in 2018 piloted a new program titled “Every month … we have a topic” to enhance classroom visits to libraries, as well as to create a constant group of children visiting the library in the afternoon.

For October, we propose an exploration of real and imaginary places as described in literature. An identification game will take us from “Wonderland” to “High Mountains”, maps will show us the way. We will make our own stories about places we know or imagine and finally we will celebrate the 40th anniversary and the occupation with a tribute to Athens by Alkis Zey and Zorz Sary.

In November we will explore the aspects of movement. The movement in physics, art, words. Experiments, constructions and a photography contest of motion.

The January issue is “Getting Started”. At the next meetings, ideas are the seed of every beginning, the beginning of life, but also a tribute to the stories that their end is a new beginning.

We dedicate February to the art with a presentation of the Bauhaus movement, born in Germany 100 years ago in 1919, and has decisively influenced the evolution of not only modern art but also our perception of important issues such as education and school design.

March is the month of poetry, and libraries will dedicate their meetings to the Moon, a favorite theme of old and modern poets. At the same time, however, in 2019 it marks the 50th anniversary since 1969 when the man made his first step on the moon.

In April, we celebrate books. In libraries we celebrate stories that are woven and sewn and find the similarities between stitching and sewing.

May is a month of history for libraries that suggest to children to use the story as a guide on the walls of different cultures from China to Istanbul.

We are waiting for you at the Library!
