Heroes full of passion, great loves, dynamic women, brown sandan, revenge, nationalism, betrayal meet in Thessaloniki at the beginning of the 20th century in the new historical novel by the much-loved author Yannis Kalpouzou “Kalderimi: 99 years in Thessaloniki”.
The author presented his new book at the Library on Friday, June 30 and “enchanted” the audience with his lyrical speech. The book presents the history of Thessaloniki from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th, through the narration of the life of Paraschos from his teenage years to the last years of his life. Parallel to the story of his family, the story of the multi-ethnic Thessaloniki unfolds, a city that hides in its bowels all kinds of nationalities: Jews, Turks, Greeks, Romanians, Albanians, Serbs and Bulgarians.
The author analyzed the psyche of his heroes, the historical events around which the plot unfolds, shared his thoughts with the audience and signed copies of his book.
