With the sponsorship of the company Eren Hellas, the Kalambaka Library in collaboration with the Woodworking School of Kalambaka, organize an educational activity entitled “Wood Carving Reminisces 1821”, with the aim of highlighting the intangible cultural heritage of wood carving processes and ensuring the viability of the art of wood carving through the use of 3D imaging technologies.
The digital cultural stock will be accessible internationally, will be linked to digital cultural portals and will be available to different categories of users. More specifically, portraits of important heroes of the Greek Revolution, as well as local heroes and /or objects related to the Revolution (e.g. flintlock, scythe, etc.) will be created by the students of the school under the guidance of their teachers. With a portable 3D scanner, donated by Eren Hellas SA, the various stages of work will be digitized. At the same time, the patterns of the wood carving art until the creation of the final result, as well as the experiences of the students will be recorded via video. Then, at the Library, there will be an exhibition with all the wood-carved objects, both in physical and digital form, which can be reproduced using 3D printers, while at the same time the Library will serve as a gateway for the interface. of digital exhibits with international repositories of cultural content.
With deep gratitude and appreciation, the Kalambaka Library expresses its gratitude to the company Eren Hellas for the kind sponsorship and support, as well as the Wood Carving School of Kalambaka for the cooperation.
