On Tuesday, April 6, the Kalampaka Library was connected online with the General High School of Kalampaka, as part of the start of cooperation for a series of courses on information education. Our meetings will focus on evaluating information sources.

The modern way of extracting and circulating information requires their filtering and critical utilization. Undoubtedly, not all information posted on the Internet is reliable and valid. A lot of information is not only untrue or incorrect, but can also be dangerous (propaganda, misleading). Therefore, the user’s judgment regarding any available information posted on the Internet is necessary.

This is the purpose of the meetings, to equip students with critical skills to recognize “reliable / unreliable information” and “misinformation” as well as to get acquainted with the criteria based on which an information is considered reliable on the Internet and to understand that freedom of expression on the Internet can be an incentive for the dissemination of false and unreliable information, whether intentional or not.

We thank the Director of the General Lyceum of Kalampaka Mr. Karatolos Georgios and Mr. Derekenaris Grigorios, Professor of Informatics for the positive response to our call for cooperation.
