Student Painting Competition

On the occasion of the book by Vangelis Iliopoulos In the evenings I dream that I am at home“, the students paint the dream of the Caryatid who is in London and dreams of allowing her to find her sisters from the Erechtheion in the New Acropolis Museum. Students draw on A5 size papers with any technique and any materials they want the works are photographed or scanned.
The aim is to gather 3191 works, as many as the kilometers that separate the British Museum in London from the New Acropolis Museum. The competition is addressed to students of Kindergartens and Primary Schools in Greece, Cyprus and Greek schools abroad. The competition is not of an evaluative nature. Participation is important in order to achieve the common goal: the concentration of 3191 projects. Each student who will take part will be honored with a Participation Award, while when the 3191 project entries are completed, all participants will be considered winners in terms of achieving the goal, and will be awarded at a special event.
Questions & Answers
1. Is it necessary for every child to have read the book? No, although it will help a lot. We certainly have to explain to him that after being kidnapped, one Caryatid is in the British Museum, in London, while her sisters are in the Acropolis Museum, in Athens. All together they supported the roof of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis of Athens. The missing Caryatid, then, dreams that it is her home.
2. Is he free to paint whatever he wants? What are the specifications of the project? Yes, every child is free to express himself visually, as long as he is in the subject, that is, he paints a dream of the Caryatid, which is in London. The drawing must be done on A5 paper with any material (marker, tempera, etc.).
3. Should children draw at home or at school? They can paint wherever they want. The conditions will be determined by the teachers of their school and the parents. The approval of the Ministry of Education provides for time to be allocated to school.
4. How will they send the project? The project will NOT be sent by mail. It is photographed or scanned by the parent or teacher and uploaded to an electronic file (.jpg .pdf .prn) on the digital platform of the Law Library. The physical work remains with the child, who keeps it for whenever requested by the competition.
5. Do I need parental consent? Can the plays be staged by the teacher? Each parent must have accepted the terms of the contest in the digital Declaration of Participation, which is available on the website of the Law Library. Even if the teacher uploads the plays, he must have collected the parentsstatements (in print or asked them to enter electronically). The statements cover GDPR personal data.
6. Who will win? The competition is not competitive. We will all be winners when we collect 3191 paintings. All those who send works will receive a certificate of participation. Once all the drawings have been collected, an event will be held in which those who participated will be honored.
7. Until when can you upload children’s plays? The projects can be uploaded from today on the platform, electronically, and until 3191 projects have been collected.
8. Can the project be a group? A project can be individual or group. If it is a group, it will receive a number, but all the children who participated will be shown as creators. A child who has participated in a group project can also participate with an individual project.
9. Can a child stage many plays? Each child can participate with an individual project and a group project. If someone sends a second individual one, it will not count in the count.
10. Will the works be exhibited somewhere? On the website of the Law Library there is an electronic gallery with all the works. When conditions allow, a physical exhibition of some works can be organized.
5. Χρειάζεται η συναίνεση των γονιών; Μπορεί τα έργα να τα ανεβάσει ο δάσκαλος;
6. Ποιος θα κερδίσει;
7. Μέχρι πότε μπορείτε να ανεβάστε τα έργα των παιδιών;
8. Μπορεί το έργο να είναι ομαδικό;
9. Μπορεί ένα παιδί να ανεβάσει πολλά έργα;
10. Θα εκτεθούν τα έργα κάπου;
