The poet of the sun and light, Odysseas Elytis, was the subject of the meeting of the Adult Reading Club that took place on Thursday, April 15th.
Invited by the members of the Club was Ms. Anna Mykoniou, President and CEO of the Cultural Center of the Region of Central Macedonia, who spoke about the work of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, the symbolism and surrealist elements of his poetry. He referred to the periods before and after the Second World War, which stood as a catalyst for the poet’s course and encouraged members to study “Axion Esti”, one of the masterpieces of world poetry.
The members talked with Ms. Mykoniou, expressed thoughts, impressions and feelings caused by the linguist, as they called him, a poet; they recited his favorite verses, while expressing the desire to study his work in depth.
We thank Ms. Mykoniou who gladly accepted to participate in the meeting of the Reading Club and we wish her good strength in her work.
The next meeting of the members will take place on Thursday, May 13 at 18:30 p.m.
