On Friday, May 12, Kalambaka Library traveled to Asprokklisia Kindergarten and Primary School with Mr. 2P of ActionAid, which gives students the opportunity to approach the concept of Active Global Citizen.
First, the children watched a video of 2P’s travels around the world and discovered the objects hidden in the suitcase, which are connected to key social issues. We stopped by 2P’s trip to Kenya and discussed the serious water shortage problem facing this beautiful country. The children then recorded on a worksheet activities in which we waste a lot of water and found ways to save this precious resource. Then, they were divided into 5 groups, with each group representing a continent, receiving the corresponding amounts of water based on the population. Of course, all the children were puzzled as to why Africa got so little water! So they agreed that they should save money and give more water to Africa, which needs it so much! Finally, they made a huge collage writing their own messages about the environment!
Special thanks to Asprokklisia Kindergarten for the cooperation!
