Hiking in Meteora with Mrs. Katerina Demoula

Mrs. Katerina Demoula toured the enchanting paths of Meteora last weekend, having a unique and special experience in the place she loves so much. The Library team and friends led by the Visit Meteora team walked some of the most beautiful paths of our region, discovering the treasures of the area hidden in the stone forest of Meteora.

More specifically, on Saturday morning, the small group of hikers toured the path that starts from the back side of Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas, passes between the ruined monasteries of Pantokrator and Prodromos, and crossing an oak forest, at the foot of the northwest side of the Meteorite rocks, ends at the Holy Monastery of Ypapanti. From the hill where the statue of Papathymios Vlachavas stands, opposite Ypapanti, the small group of hikers enjoyed the view towards the monastery and the landscape of the surrounding area. The route ended with the descent of the path that starts from the base of the Great Meteoron and ends under the Holy Monastery.

On Sunday afternoon, the Visit Meteora team had another pleasant surprise in store for Ms. Dimoula. It was the ascent to the rock of the Holy Spirit. The circle of the Boulder that dominates over Kastraki, the view from the top of the rock, the hermitage of Palimonastero, the cave of the Holy Spirit, the monks prison, Ai Giorgis Mantilas, the old settlement of Kastraki and Bantovas. The Kalambaka Library warmly thanks Visit Meteora for the beautiful tour.
