On Thursday, May 18th, the meeting of the Adult Reading Club took place, focusing on the book “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka, a timeless work that expresses people’s concerns and alienation.
Members studied the work and attempted to interpret the author’s unique psyche. Everyone agreed that it is a work bearing the marks of a person suffering in spirit and body, desperately seeking meaning, security, and self-esteem. They expressed thoughts and opinions, trying to shed light on the darkness of the work by interpreting the symbolism prevalent throughout the text. The element of the absurd both challenged and excited the members, who provided a plethora of interpretations of the work’s allegories. Undoubtedly, Franz Kafka is one of the most significant writers of the 20th century.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 1st, at 6:30 p.m.
