Maps
The collection consists of 14 historical maps by cartographer Georges Peltier, depicting Europe in the early 20th century during the First World War (1914–1918).
The maps show national borders, as well as the areas where major military operations and battles took place between the opposing forces, providing a particularly valuable cartographic representation of the European landscape of the period.
The digitization of the collection serves as an important resource for the academic and research community, providing remote access to the material without requiring direct handling of the original documents and thus helping to minimize their physical wear. Making the maps available in high resolution facilitates detailed study and creates new opportunities for research in fields such as history, cartography, geography, and European studies.
The project aims to preserve and promote cultural and historical heritage, while providing a valuable digital resource for the academic and research community.
