Five Libraries of Thessaly, namely, Kalambaka Library, the Municipal Library of Rapsani, the Public Central Library of Larissa “Konstantinos Koumas“, the Municipal Library of Volos and the Children‘s Libraries of the Municipality of Karditsa decided to celebrate the World Museum Day with joint actions. On the morning of Wednesday, May 18, primary school students in these cities visited at the same time the premises of the 5 libraries and some local museums, where they heard about museums, exhibits, rules of behavior in a museum, were interactively guided through various major museums in Greece and the world and made their own exhibits for the museum of their class!
At the Library, the 4th grade students of the 1st Primary School had the opportunity to learn about the largest museums in the world through an exhibition of encyclopedias and books, to take an interactive tour of the Natural History Museum of Meteora and the Mushroom Museum, of Greek Education based in Kalambaka, the Diachronic Museum of Larissa, the British Museum in London and the Louvre Museum in Paris. Afterwards, they were informed about the exhibits of the Museum of Cycladic Art and examined the faithful copies of the Museum‘s pottery, as well as the copies of the Charta of Rhigas that are in the Library. Finally, they participated in the painting competition of the Museum of Cycladic Art, “bringing to life“ the Cycladic islands!
