The Library, wishing to keep in touch with the public during the mandatory confinement, organizes online meetings with a variety of topics. On Thursday, November 12, the speech of Mr. Apostolos Eliopoulos, Vice Chairman of KDK, took place, regarding the result of the American elections and the consequences that this will have on the “geopolitical chessboard” of the Mediterranean.
Mr. Eliopoulos referred to the complex system of the presidential elections, the peculiarities that characterize it and the way in which the new president of the USA is finally elected. References were made to the outgoing leadership, allegations of fraud, and the expectations of the American people from the new president.
This was followed by an analysis of the significance of the US elections globally and, in particular, how US foreign policy will affect the Eastern Mediterranean, the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Finally, a discussion with the public followed, while Mr. Eliopoulos answered the questions of the participants.
