The third teleconference with the author of children’s books, Mr. Vangelis Iliopoulos, took place on Wednesday afternoon, with references to magical realism and supernatural elements. In the previous online meeting, Mr. Iliopoulos had instructed parents and children to create a video where they would sing their favorite song or lullaby on the occasion of Mother’s Day. After enjoying young and old in happy moments, Mr. Iliopoulos read an excerpt from his book “Boat in the Sky”, in order to introduce children to the movement of magical realism. The emergence of the unreal or bizarre as something common and the reference to fairytale elements as something everyday helps us to express emotions and understand ourselves.
Mr. Iliopoulos pledged to donate two of his books to the children who made the tender video with their mother. We thank Mr. Iliopoulos for the online meetings that aimed to keep the children invested in the wonderful world of books and highlighted their creativity during the period of self-isolation.
