On Wednesday, September 27, the children’s storytelling on the subject of the senses was held based on the favorite book “Fenia, the beloved of sounds”. It is the story of a blind girl who, despite the difficulties she faces, manages to find joy in the beauties of the sounds that enliven the world around her. The purpose of the workshop was to cultivate empathy in children, to understand, as much as possible, the difficulties faced by a person or a child with vision loss and the right to equal treatment by the sighted.
Young and old, we tried to walk with our eyes closed and discovered how difficult it is, we heard various sounds from our everyday life and tried to identify them, we perceived various objects by their texture and shape and as Fenia says: “our nose was acting as a detective” and we discovered familiar scents of flowers and fruits. Finally, we enjoyed favorite candies and all understood that when sight is absent, all other senses are heightened.
We all lived together for a while in Fenia’s world and realized how grateful we are for things we take for granted.
