An online meeting was held today with the authors of the children’s book “The faces of the revolution of 1821”, Mrs. Markaki Vasiliki and Mr. Zampakidis Zenonas. This meeting was planned by the Library in collaboration with the 1st Primary School of Kalamβaka and specifically the 6th grade.

The authors made a short presentation referring to the siege of Messolonghi, focused on specific personalities of heroes, such as George Karaiskakis, due to his origin from Mavrommati Karditsa, but also Andreas Miaoulis and Lord Byron. Also, one of the students made a brief mention to the first governor of the new Greek state, Ioannis Kapodistrias.

It was interesting that personalities who contributed to the Greek Revolution and are not as popular as the first spy in the Struggle for the liberation of Greece Marigo Zarafopoulou were also discussed. The children pledged to work and research on the “invisible heroes” of 1821.

At the end of the meeting, the students asked the authors questions about the time they spent composing the contents of the book and how they located and collected the information.

We warmly thank the publishing house Psychogios, the authors and the 1st Primary School of Kalambaka for the cooperation.
