Happy-much? Sad-much?

The literary world today says farewell to one of its most important representatives, the notorious Alkie Zei.

The crisp way of writing, the integrity, the way of expression and empathy are the hallmarks of Alkie Zei’s works, which have raised generations of readers. The Showcase Tapestry, her first novel, was a landmark work in Greek children’s literature and is considered a classic work of world literature.

Her works include many autobiographical elements and have been loved by Greek and foreign readers alike, as they have uniquely captured contemporary Greek history. As she herself put it: “If I chose to write for children, it is because I wanted to capture what my generation has lived through, that I fear will be forgotten when we are gone.”

Unfortunately, the students of 1st Kalambaka Elementary School will not have the opportunity to chat with her, as a teleconference was scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, where they would express the emotions her books offered them.

We are very fortunate and grateful for the work he has offered, though it will continue to exist through, and sad for the great loss.
