On Monday, July 8th, the Summer Reading and Creativity Campaign of the National Library of Greece 2019 was launched with the activity “The Moon is Blowing.”

The children listened to live mandolin music by Zisis Rusta, who played melodies glorifying the bright celestial body, such as “Moonlight Serenade” and “Dia Luna Dia Pena.”

Then our little friends learned about the birth of the moon, its mass, its atmosphere, and Neil Armstrong – the first astronaut to land on the moon in 1969.

The children tried to figure out what their weight would be if they visited our satellite, and after watching the short film La Luna, they painted their own moons.

In the end, they discussed the moon’s imagery and listened to the stories Sidney, Stella and the Moon, and Please Dad Bring me the Moon.
