Extremely interesting and constructive was the online event that took place on Monday, December 7, with invited speaker Mr. Xenofontas Mousas, Professor of Space Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the topic of the famous Antikythera Mechanism.
The distinguished professor, one of the protagonists of the study of the mechanism, referred to its value and presented in detail its complex construction. The mechanism is the oldest known analog computer, designed to calculate the movements of celestial bodies, solar and lunar eclipses, as well as its phases.
The response of the public to the event was great, as there was participation from almost all parts of Greece, but also abroad. Mr. Mousas talked to the audience and answered the questions of the participants, who expressed their admiration for both the work of Mr. Mousas and the mechanism itself.
We thank Mr. Moussas for accepting our invitation and the special honor to participate in the event, as well as the general public who attended the teleconference.
