The event for the prevention of breast cancer, held in collaboration with the Trikala branch of the Hellenic Cancer Society, was held at the Library with great success on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 October.
The invited speakers were Ms. Maria Kanara, Breast Surgeon (Trikala General Hospital), and Mr. Alexios Kavvadias, gynecological surgeon, who emphasized the importance of mammograms and regular check-ups. Attendees were informed about the latest medical information about breast cancer, its forms and ways of dealing with it.
In the end, a raffle was held and one of the attendees won a pink wristband symbolizing the fight against breast cancer.
What we all need keep in mind from yesterday’s event is Ms. Canara’s words: “… cancer can scare us, but it is not invincible …”
