Extremely interesting and informative was yesterday’s teleconference with Ms. Athena Linou, President of the Institute of Preventive, Environmental and Occupational Medicine Prolepsis and Professor at the University of Athens. Also invited to the event was Ms. Anastasia Pantazopoulou – Fotinea, Public Health Physician and Occupational Physician, consultant at the Prolepsis Institute. Ms. Pantazopoulou presented to the public data and results of research regarding the effects of Covid-19 on the health and psychological condition of citizens, while both Ms. Pantazopoulou and Ms. Linou insisted more on the issue of vaccination, which was pending, monopolized the debate.
Ms. Linou referred to the reluctance of a large part of the population regarding vaccines, but stressed that everyone should be vaccinated, as the chances of thrombosis and death are more serious if someone gets Koronovio. He also advocated for the vaccination of children over 12 years of age and said that the results of the research are encouraging for younger ages as well. As Ms. Pantazopoulou pointed out, it is difficult to achieve immunity of the herd if the majority of the population and especially the children are not vaccinated.
The audience asked a number of questions to the rapporteurs, who tried in a simple and understandable way to explain the benefits of vaccination both personally and collectively.
