On Monday, May 8, we had the pleasure of Mr. Panos Laskaridis, shipowner and President of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, visiting the Library. Mr. Laskaridis was welcomed by the Director of the Library, Ms. Theopi Katsiamanis and the Vice President of KDK, Mr. Apostolos Eliopoulos.
Mr. Laskaridis, accompanied by Mr. Georgiadis (President of the Trikalini Club), took a tour of the Library and was informed about all its educational and cultural programs. Particular emphasis was placed on collaborations, as a result of the Library’s extroversion, such as the collaboration with the Kalambaka Woodcarving School , the collaboration with the Trikala Police Department and finally with the Holy Monastery of Rousano and the Historical and Palaeographic Archive of the Educational Foundation of the National Bank. Mr. Laskaridis showed a special interest in the digital collection of the manuscript codices of Rousanou Monastery, as a brief presentation of the project took place. Afterwards, there was a discussion about the benefits of digitization, the need for the development and continuous presence of libraries in the intellectual life of the place.
We hope that today’s visit will be the beginning of a new collaboration!
